Lao Language for Adults

Beginners, Level 1

This Lao language class, for absolute beginners, assumes no prior knowledge of Laotian. Class will concentrate on speaking and listening, but not to the exclusion of the reading and writing of Lao script. It will introduce the alphabet and tones, as well as the writing system. A tonal language, Lao is part of the Tai family, closely related to the Isan language of NE Thailand. The two are often considered one language. The class provides an important foundation for further studies in the language. The teacher is a native speaker of Lao, with good English. Classes are kept small. Modern Tibetan for Adults

Beginners, Level 1

This class puts heavy emphasis on speaking and listening skills of modern Tibetan language. Students will learn correct pronunciation, the Tibetan alphabet, basic greetings, and simple vocabulary. Ages: 13+. The teacher is a native speaker of Tibetan, with good English, and experience teaching Tibetan language classes. Classes are kept small. We fill seats on a first-register basis. Nepali one-on-one private tutoring and private group classes are available. Please call to arrange. For private classes, we can propose a course of study using our own textbook, or we can work with you to provide a course based on your wants or needs and/or own material. The teacher is a native speaker of Nepali, with many years teaching experience, and excellent English.

Public group classes are also available. We need a minimum of 4 students to hold a class. If you are interested in this option, please contact us and we can put you on the waiting list. We'll contact you when we have enough students to hold a class.
