Latin Language Classes for Older Children

	Tuesdays, January 6 - March 17, 2026 (11 weeks)	4-5:30 pm (1.5 hours a week)	Latin Language Course for Older Children	Beginner, Level 1	This Latin language class for older children (ages 13+) assumes no prior knowledge of Latin. The focus of the class is reading, with some writing. Students will learn basic Latin vocabulary and grammar (present, perfect, and imperfect tense of verbs; nominative and accusative, singular and plural, forms of nouns in the first, second, and third declension; personal pronouns, etc.) as well as some Roman history and culture. Students are expected to have a basic understanding of English grammar. In addition to learning Latin, students will enrich their understanding of English words deriving from Latin. The class provides an important foundation for further studies in the language. Classes are kept small, and taught in person. Seats are filled on a first-register basis.
